Well folks, today was the Driffield Steam show - rally.
Living on Beverley road in the town, my wife and family have a wonderful view of all the admirable procession of steam driven vehichles as well as diesel and petrol propelled lumps that ease their way towards the town center on this grey wet August day.
This occasion only occurs in August of our year and is enjoyed when it arrives, the many hours and indeed weeks that the owners obviously dedicate to their machines is only rewarded at times such as these and of coarse, when their loving glance is directed towards their real 'true love'.
From steam rollers to wagons and trailers to steam driven boats....everything is covered in the array of transport from yesteryear.
Then we..as a family settled down for the night to watch a well dealt with dvd and to retire for the night, or so I thought!
The phone rings.....brrr brrr brr brr..'Hi, It's Pierre,.......ya know Pete'.
Hi Pete, how are you?
'Fine thanks, I've just got to Driffield steam rally in my 1955 recovery vehichle, Fancy a pint with your ole pal?
'I'm there'.
Well the night was fine, a few beers and an acoustic come semi electric rendition of a few Rock n Roll favourites originally by the untouchable Eddie Cochran - Buddy Holly etc and the night was all but over. Pete and his friendly partner Sue who is the best thing that he has ever come across offer me a lift home along with the friendly and sincere Mike Laing and I'm back home again writting my first blog for you folks to devour,
I will endevour to add some pics to this article as I have one or two to display but as yet I have not downloaded them, Take Care all you good people and tune in next time...B4N
